NAPho helps SMEs introducing laser technology to their production producing distinct micro-structures, saving energy, and reaching the highest precision. Most projects are proof-of-principle before investing into a complete R&D cycle and therefore are subject to non-disclosure agreements. References are provided on a personal level protecting the innovative ideas and developed concepts of our costumers.

Enterprise History

Norbert Ackerl founded NAPho as a individual enterprise during his PhD studies at ETH Zürich in 2019 filling the need in consultancy and proof-of-principle studies from companies for ultra-short pulsed laser material processing.
Norbert has been working at the intersection of electronics, photonics, material sciences, and applied physics for more than 15 years working at the frontier in different fields of research. Diving into technology as an engineer in informatics, Norbert attained a bachelor in electrical engineering and a diploma in experimental physics focusing on macroscopic quantum effects at TU Wien. Subsequently, he moved to ETH Zürich working on surface functionalization using clean room technology, thermoplastic forming, and direct laser structuring. As a researcher Norbert followed two branches: i) fundamental aspects of laser material removal and ii) novel applications using ultra-short pulsed laser systems.
